India as a signatory of the Paris Agreement will require transformative technologies, policies and measures to stabilize warming in the range 1.5–2-C.
8Operationalization of the Agreement would necessitate large-scale estimation, monitoring, modelling, reporting and verification of GHG inventories along with mitigation measures.
8India being the fourth largest economy and the third largest emitter of GHGs will be required periodically to report on the progress made on mitigation and adaptation, GHG emissions reduced and tonnes of carbon sequestered compared to an established baseline scenario
8The problem is India is ill prepared to under take such large-scale research at this point in time.
8The country lacks that data requirement and technical capacity for reliable GHG inventory and mitigation assessment.
