The most important point to note is that we just do not provide you with a list of relevant contacts. We go far beyond that. 8Every contact comes with a rich tapestry of information on the facility and the unit in which the contact is present, along with attendant business development prospects. In an industrial facility we give you a whole lot of additional information including -- Technology parameters -- Design and actual Input-Output data for every raw material and product -- Multi-parameter utility matrix -- Long term maintenance contracts -- Feedstock data -- NIC codes 8A facility is further split up into its individual units and for each unit we have a similar set of parameters as in the facility 8And for each unit or facility, we have a resultant business development prospect, either in terms of maintenance prospect or a capital project, be an additional expansion or debottlenecking or a revamp or a new capital project 8The point to note is that we are always looking ahead and never behind, giving you exclusive information not on a tender that is already out but on a genuine future prospect, which may be a month, six months, a year or two years away from being tendered out. 8Having worked in the business for more than two decades, we know what you are looking for. 8India has so far had a poor business prospect database because the existing databases do not fulfill the requirements of a business development manager. What we have done is just plugged that gap 8For you, a deal can just be a phone call away Contact us or fill up the registration form to know more about what we have to offerDetails
We employ only mechanical engineers for to fill up our database and prospect for business development opportunities. 8Why do we do so? 8The reason is that they understand the dynamics of an industrial facility or unit better than anyone else. 8We split up a power plant or a refinery into its major industrial components, going down to the level of the boiler or the turbine or the heat exchanger. 8The idea is to allow our engineers to understand the dynamics from bottom up, so that when they are interviewing their contacts, they are able to quickly collect the relevant information needed to fill up our databases. 8And we know mechanical engineers can do that job better than anyone else. 8Our database therefore has many unique usages since we have laboriously built it up, bottom up 8We can, for example, provide you component wise business development prospects in the segments in which we are present. 8If you are, say, a pump supplier, you can search the database on the basis of the pumps that you supply for a future business development prospect 8What is more, we allow you to be directly in touch with our engineers. If you need a clarification, or you want to check out something you have heard, just call up one of our engineers and he will help you out. 8Business development in India is a stressful and complicated exercise. 8We just made it simple for you. The honeymoon seems to be over for GAIL and a long rough patch is now looming ahead. 8The gas trading business is not longer going to be smooth as its monopoly comes under threat. Already, EBIT in this segment declined 23% YoY (+21% QoQ). This is more due to only a partial conversion of short-term contracts to long-term contracts. Customers are not buying GAIL's argument on this front and they want to keep their choices open. 8But more competition is likely to keep margins under pressure. 8ONGC, for example, would have the right to sell HPHT gas from the KG Basin to end-consumer. And end consumer may decide which pipeline to choose. There is now competing pipelines emerging out of the KG Basin 8Potential liability led by price differential on its US LNG contracts is, of course, the biggest risk 8Decision on a single tariff for the whole nation by year-end will be to GAIL's disadvantage and is meant primarily to benefit customers. Current spot market returns have fallen in the shipping market and are and are unlikely to rebound in a significant manner in the near term, argues one analysis. 8The solution to low rates is already in front of ship owners, scrapping of older ships. 8Low earnings do encourage recycling as owners are struggling to make OPEX level returns in most tanker markets. 8There is now hope those looking at disposing of vintage units as steel prices in China are rising, which is driving up the $/ton cost for scrap buyers in India. 8A 105kt Aframax tanker may have a lightweight of about 18kt, which is used to determine the scrap value of a ship. 8The value that can be realized for a ship has increased from $4.75mn USD to over $7mn USD. 8This is not a trivial amount for someone looking at losing $7k/day in today's market with a 20 year old ship. The International Energy Agency, which in 2011 predicted a ‘golden age of gas’, now sees a more tepid picture. Demand for gas is not going up in the segments in which it was meant to in the manner thought earlier. Suppliers are now banking on new countries to push demand whereas, earlier, a more intensive use of gas was meant to stir up demand in countries where gas usage was already prevalent. 8The fundamental problem with GAIL is that it did not adapt to the changing environment. 8The new LNG world demanded a diversity of approaches and business models and GAIL failed to develop them while other LNG players, such as Shell and BP, did. 8Diverse portfolios -- whether as trader or buyer -- were the need of the hour to manage price risks. 8GAIL failed on this count, as its only option was to get the LNG to India. 8What GAIL needed to do was to staff up its risk and economic forecasting departments, as others had done as they ventured beyond the traditional way of doing the LNG business. 8From the old model of arbitraging cheap gas, the new world required participants to be market-finders and market-makers. 8The best companies were seizing opportunities proactively whereas GAILwas not. 8Trends show LNG players -- both traditional giants, and new entrants from state concerns to small entrepreneurial firms -- not just adapting to a changing reality, but creating their future. 8GAIL is a long way behind. The fact that GAIL is seeking renegotiations of the long term LNG supply terms with its US and Australian suppliers is something to watch out for. 8All suppliers are likely to resist a price renegotiation. A signed deal is held sacrosanct and the covenants can only be changed mutually. If like GAIL, all buyers were to seek renegotiation of signed contracts, all hell will break lose in the LNG market. 8GAIL's ability to maneuver a price revision will depend entirely on whether it can garner support from other off takers from the terminals in which the gas major as supply agreements. Or it may well risk becoming a pariah. 8The Americans are unlikely to take kindly to GAIL's plea as they have back-to-back arrangements with their financiers against gas offtake and fixed price elements of their contracts with buyers and any price revision will upset this fragile equilibrium. 8According to reports, GAIL wants the fixed portion of their US cargoes to lowered to around USD 7-8 per mmBtu as against the present USD 9.7. This is far too deep a price cut for any supplier to agree to. 8If negotiations fail, it will end up in ugly litigation, which will be a big loss of credibility for GAIL. 8GAIL will have more leverage in getting a discount from Gorgon LNG, as the price of gas is indexed at 14.5 per cent of prevailing oil rate, which is arguably very high and there is scope to bring it down. 8Can GAIL walk away from these deals? 8The pros of cons of reneging on the deals may have occurred to GAIL. Weighed against punishing litigation is the prospect of containing a splurge of red ink on its balance sheet from next year onwards. 8Overall, GAIL will be playing a dangerous game against opponents which are more powerful than itself Click on Details for moreDetails

Between the hegemony of the oil marketing giants in the midstream business, a significant new space has opened up for private sector investment in the LPG logistics industry. 8Not just in storage and distribution in the non-subsidized segment but also in the import of LNG. 8Entry barriers are there but nothing that an intrepid company bent on getting into this space cannot overcome 8Demand for LPG is growing far too fast for the public sector majors to handle the business alone. 8This is a good time as any to step in. The inexorable rise of the second rung of oil and gas EPC contractors is something to take note of 8The likes of Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd, with its cut rate quotes, are quickly pushing out more established competitors out. 8Just as the first rung of indigenous players such as L&T and Punj Lloyd pushed out the multinationals, companies such as Kalpataru are pushing the first rung out. 8They are eating up the EPC space not just in the high cost, low-end E&P segment but also in the midstream section. 8As the second rung moves up the value chain, as L&T did, will a third rung emerge? IOC intends to add 20 MMTPA of refining capacity over the next five years, pushing up installed capacity to 100 MMTPA. 8This is over and above the 60 MMTPA mega refinery that it is partnering with BPCL and HPCL to build. 8Capital approval was provided last week to an increase in capacity of one of its refineries by more than 4 MMTPA at a cost of Rs 15,000 crore. 8IOC's capex binge is likely to keep EPC contractors as well as equipment and service suppliers busy for some time to come Click on Reports for moreDetails
Galvanized by higher profits, Indian Oil Corporation plans to fund its massive Rs 180,000 crore capex over seven years through internal accruals. 8Earnings are likely to be strong going ahead, now that the Paradip refinery has been fully commissioned. Higher complexity of the refinery will provide a better core GRM (of around $ 12/bbl) which will be at a premium to the Singapore benchmark. 8Current core GRM of IOC is at a reasonable 7.7/bbl though the eventual figure was dragged down by inventory loss. 8Given the galloping growth in demand for POL products in India, IOC will continue to invest heavily in new refining capacity. 8The capex run is likely to continue for the next five years or perhaps even more. Eventually however, the advent of disruptive technology will dramatically changes its business model. Click on Reports for more.Details

LNG imports are likely to face headwinds going ahead 8A surge in domestic gas production is just one of the factors 8Around 18 mmscmd of LNG is likely to be displaced as RIL's petcoke gasification unit comes on stream, coupled with ethane imports by RIL 8The discontinuance of power pooling, a major demand driver earlier, is another factor. 8A clutch of fertilizer plants is likely to come on stream by 2020 but that may not be able to keep LNG demand up in the face of rising domestic production. 8Liquid fuels, spurred by low crude prices, can continue to replace domestic demand in dual feed industrial furnaces around the country. 8Cumulative domestic production increase will be around 60 mmscmd over 2022.
